It’s been almost 5 years since Chef Walter Manzke together with his partners opened Wildflour Café + Bakery, now widely known among families and groups of friends as a place to have a perfect brunch with friends. The bakery café has constantly proven over the years that their dark interior and exterior designs have more to offer than Instagrammable nooks, and today, they have a total of 4 branches around Metro Manila, including their main branch at BGC.

The simple yet modern façade reflects the philosophy of Wildflour. The food is uncomplicated, straightforward, and very trendy.

The interiors reflect the same modern, industrial look.

The concept of Wildflour is comfortingly familiar to their regular customers, as Manzke and his team share that they draw much inspiration from a variety of restaurants or cafés in the United States. But of course, this did not stop them from creating unique features to include in their menu which is very well-organized and thought out, from the Breakfast section (available only until 3 PM), to their Sandwiches section, and Lunch section (available only after 11 AM). They also have an extensive menu for their drinks, including Craft Sodas and Organic Teas.

Our first pick is a classic toast with a unique feature! Named after John Hughes’ The Breakfast Club (Php 450.00), this sandwich gave us a good mix of French and American flavors from the good old-fashioned bacon, ham, and fried egg to the toasted flaky croissant. There is also a little bit of strawberry jam and cinnamon powder, which elevates the flavors and transforms it into a mouthwatering sweet and savory treat.

Curious to know the difference between our normal everyday pancake and pancakes from other parts of the globe, we couldn’t resist trying Wildflour’s German Pancake (Php 340.00). Inside the delicate crêpe-like pancake is a mix of strawberries, mangoes, and cream that is sure to delight anyone looking for something light and fruity for breakfast.

Manzke and his team’s drive to constantly improve Wildflour Café + Bakery is really inspiring and will continue to elevate the brand to greater heights, creating more menu choices with of excellent quality for years to come.
